Is Roman Reigns the newest Paul Heyman Guy?

Updated: Aug 30

During the closing moments of SmackDown as WWE Producer Adam Pearce was getting Roman Reigns to sign the contract for the triple threat match for the Universal Championship at WWE Payback we got a huge and shocking surprise. As Reigns was signing he promised that he would become Universal Champion while letting everyone know that “It’s not a prediction it’s a spoiler“. If those words sound familiar it’s for a good reason. They are of course the words often used by the advocate for Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman. The camera then panned over to Heyman himself who was sitting next to Reigns with a grin on his face that was returned by Reigns. We couldn’t believe what we just saw and neither could the WWE Universe.

Could we be looking at the next Paul Heyman guy in Roman Reigns? It certainly appears to be the case. Although it seems unthinkable it may be just the thing that Reigns needs to take the next step in his WWE career and cement his status. Paul Heyman has helped develop some of the biggest names in the industry. Names like Brock Lesnar, CM Punk and The Big Show have all been mentored by Heyman. That’s not bad company to join if you’re “The Big Dog”. The pairing will also help Reigns in the promo department as Heyman is one of the best to ever do it and can literally get a broomstick over while Reigns has often struggled on the mic.

We previously reported at TRR that WWE was looking for a way to make Roman Reigns more edgy upon his return and it seems like they have found a way to do that. Reigns as a monster heel that’s been unleashed off his chain by Heyman is exactly what fans have been hoping for. He will undoubtedly be the top heel in the company in a very short amount of time. In fact he may already be there. Reigns will look to capture the Universal Championship this Sunday at WWE Payback and with Heyman seemingly by his side the odds are looking pretty good that he will do just that. Should Reigns win the Championship and take his yard back it’s going to be tough for anyone to dethrone him with this powerful new duo of Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman sitting at the top of WWE. It’s also going to be interesting to see how Brock Lesnar reacts whenever he returns. Surely “The Beast” won’t be pleased to see one of his biggest adversary's now being managed by his longtime manager. We can’t wait to see how it all goes down this Sunday at WWE Payback..believe that.
